PlayStation has put two limited-edition Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense wireless controllers on the calendar, with pre-orders opening September 10 and launch set for November 19. The Black Limited Edition and White Limited Edition both arrive as part of a limited hardware release tied to the game’s debut.
That matters because buyers do not have long to wait before ordering begins. In the U.S., pre-orders open September 10 at 7:00am PT and 10:00am ET through in limited quantities, while players in the U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg can also order that day at 10:00am local time through the same site. In Portugal, orders go through playstation.com/store/hardware.
PlayStation shared the first look during State of Play, and the appeal is in the details. Both controllers carry a shimmering, color-shifting finish, custom palm tree details molded into the shell and official Grand Theft Auto VI branding. PlayStation also said the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will respond to the action in Grand Theft Auto VI, which gives the hardware a direct link to the game instead of a simple paint job.
Pricing is set at $84.99 USD, ¥12,480 including tax, €84.99 or £74.99, but the bigger issue for buyers is availability. The White Limited Edition will be sold in limited quantities globally at and at participating retailers, while the Black Limited Edition is limited to where available and select retailers in other regions. PlayStation did not say how many units are being produced, and it did not spell out whether every market will get both designs through the same channels.
That leaves September 10 as the real test. The people who want one will have to move quickly, because the controllers are tied to a major release and the launch date is fixed for November 19, the same day Grand Theft Auto VI is due to arrive. For anyone hoping to secure both versions, the unanswered question is not when they go on sale. It is whether limited quantities will make one of them vanish long before the game does.
