Six Flags Announcement: New Flex Pay option spreads pass costs over time

Six Flags has introduced Flex Pay by Upgrade, a new way for eligible guests to buy season passes and other qualifying products and pay over time in fixed monthly installments. The option applies to online purchases of $49 or more, and guests who are approved can finish checkout and start using season pass benefits right away.

The timing matters because families are already weighing how to pay for park visits before the 2027 season, and Six Flags is pitching the plan as a way to make upfront costs easier to handle. The company, which operates 20 amusement parks across the country, says the program is meant to fit more easily into household budgets while still letting guests lock in future visits now.

The catch is that Flex Pay is not one uniform bargain. Some plans include interest while some are interest-free, and the loan terms depend on credit information and the specifics of the purchase. In other words, the same checkout option can look different from one guest to another, which means the monthly figure on screen is only part of the real cost.

Eligibility is narrow. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and provide a mobile number, date of birth and, for U.S. residents, a social security number. Residents of Iowa, West Virginia and Washington D.C. cannot use the program. Guests can still make extra payments to reduce the balance or pay it off in full without a penalty or fee, and those additional payments can shorten the life of the loan and lower the total interest paid when interest applies.

For now, the main question is not whether the payment plan exists. It is which season pass products and other qualifying products will be included at each park, since Six Flags has not spelled out that list. That leaves the new program looking less like a blanket discount and more like a payment tool that will work differently depending on what a guest buys and where.
