Morgan did not describe Washington Spirit as finished work. She said the team has confidence in itself now, but also a sharper sense that every match carries extra weight because the standings are so tight and the season is moving toward the point where each result matters in the final shape of the table. That is the real pressure of this fixture: Washington Spirit can prove that the recent recovery is more than a short run of form, or they can leave Portland Thorns with the same old problem still hanging over them.
