Remo and Flamengo meet on Sunday, September 6, at 16:00 in Belém for the 26th round of the Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro, with the Mangueirão set to be full and the game carrying weight on both ends of the table. That is why the match has become a search target now: Flamengo is trying to reach the top of the Brasileirão this round, while Remo is still stuck in the relegation zone and has gone seven matches without a win. The home side is coming off a loss to Coritiba, but it will at least have Mayk, Edson Fernando and Jajá available again after injury, and more than 25,000 supporters are expected at the Mangueirão.
João Lucas will not be part of that push. He has been out since suffering a serious knee injury in March, a blow that has forced Remo to lean on a lineup built around Marcelo Rangel; Marcelinho, Marllon, Tchamba and Marlon; Zé Welison, Picco, Zé Ricardo and Pikachu; Jajá and Taliari. For a side that needs points fast, the return of three players and the absence of one key name frame how narrow the margin has become.
Flamengo arrives with a different kind of pressure. It beat Botafogo and Mirassol without conceding a goal, and it had already passed Cruzeiro in the Libertadores, but the schedule is still crowded enough that one or another player may be preserved for a difficult Thursday match in altitude. That leaves room for changes, even as the visitors are expected to lean on Rossi; Varela or Royal, Danilo, Léo Pereira and Ayrton Lucas; Pulgar or Jorginho, Paquetá and Arrascaeta; Carrascal or Luiz Araújo, Samuel Lino and Pedro. Valencia and Freitas are new options and both may debut, while Vitão and De la Cruz are back after injuries. Alex Sandro, Evertton Araújo and Plata are out.
The match will also be handled by a full Paraná-led officiating team, with Lucas Casagrande as referee, Bruno Boschilia and Victor Hugo Imazu dos Santos as assistants, Anderson Ribeira Gonçalves as fourth official and Heber Roberto Lopes on VAR. For Remo, the crowd should be a lift. For Flamengo, the next few days may decide whether it can keep pushing at the top without paying for Thursday before it even arrives.
