Just as he returned from a lingering wrist injury and powered past Roman Safiullin, Claudia Canals posted a fresh set of beach photos with the caption “September,” pulling the focus onto the woman long described as his rumored girlfriend.
That timing is why the search interest is spiking now. Alcaraz was out for five months before stepping back into Arthur Ashe Stadium, where he beat Safiullin 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 and moved on to face Jaime Faria in the second round on September 2. After the win, he said it had been a difficult five months and that he could not have picked a better tournament than the US Open in New York to return.
Canals’ posts landed while Alcaraz was still in tournament mode, and she appeared to be nowhere near Flushing Meadows. In July, the pair were spotted getting cozy on a mega yacht on the Amalfi Coast, a sighting that fed the rumors then and has only kept them alive since. Canals is also the founder of CC Studio and was featured on Spain’s version of Temptation Island, but those details have done little to quiet the public interest surrounding her connection to the world No. 1 men’s tennis player.
The catch is that neither side has ever given the story a straight yes. During the ATP Finals in November, Elena Vesnina put the question to Alcaraz in front of a crowd, asking whether his heart had been taken. He smiled it away, saying he was free. That answer still hangs over the speculation, which is why every new post from Canals gets picked over so closely.
For now, the next checkpoint is on court, not online. Alcaraz was set to meet Jaime Faria at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 2, while the off-court chatter around Canals keeps trailing him into the tournament. Until one of them says more, the photos are doing the talking.
