Daniel Busch has turned an RV in Plymouth into a rolling newsroom and is using it to cover the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. Known on social media as Court Dawg Daniel, Busch said this is the first trial he has followed gavel to gavel from the RV, which he has set up as both his home and a production space.
Busch said the trip started with a request from a members-only show on Courtroom Confidential, then grew into a full-time assignment in Plymouth. He said he had long been interested in watching criminal trials, but this one pushed him into a new setup that lets him file videos from inside the RV and keep working as the proceedings unfold.
That mobile setup is doing real work. Busch said the RV is his third, and that he has a green screen inside it so he can produce and publish videos for social media without leaving the trial scene. He also said Kevin Reddington has been stopping by the RV often, lately every day, and that Reddington once pulled in with his son and surprised him while he was working on videos.
The arrangement has also put Busch in awkward close quarters with the people he is trying to cover. He said he wants to build a relationship with Jennifer Sprague and interview her, but added that while driving around the media area to show people where things were, he almost ran her over. Busch said she walked right by him before he called out to her, a reminder that the line between observer and participant can get thin when the newsroom is an RV.
For now, the setup is part shelter, part studio and part front-row seat to a trial that Busch is still chasing from inside a vehicle. What happens next is simple enough: he keeps covering the case from Plymouth, keeps publishing from the RV and keeps trying to turn a passing encounter with Sprague into a conversation.
