Davi Alcolumbre used a Senate plenary session on Wednesday to push back against the way Alexandre de Moraes has been singled out in the debate over Dark Horse. The Senate president said people had forgotten that R$ 130 million had been asked from Daniel Vorcaro for the film’s production, and that now the blame was being placed only on Moraes.
The intervention landed while the dispute was already hot. On Tuesday, Flávio Bolsonaro said Moraes was being used in political articulation between Alcolumbre and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the same day a new transfer of US$ 1.6 million for Dark Horse was revealed in September 2025. The amount was reported by piauí and later confirmed by g1, giving fresh fuel to a case that had already moved from finance to politics.
Alcolumbre did not try to separate the financial question from the institutional one. He said he had no deadline to analyze the impeachment requests against Moraes, even as he acknowledged that 109 impeachment requests are waiting in the Senate. That matters because the Senate president is the one who decides whether a complaint is archived or admitted at the first stage, and that gatekeeping power has turned his remarks into something more than a defense of one minister.
There is also a broader friction in the background. Messages between Moraes and Daniel Vorcaro indicate discussion of a possible PF operation that could have targeted Vorcaro, which helps explain why the case keeps resurfacing in political speeches. It is no longer just about whether the money for Dark Horse was requested or transferred. It is about who gets blamed, who gets heard and whether the Senate will move on any of the pending requests at all.
For now, Alcolumbre has drawn a line without saying where it leads. He has defended Moraes in public, acknowledged the pile of 109 requests and refused to name a deadline. That leaves the Senate president holding the only decision that matters next: whether any of those cases is admitted, or whether they stay where they are, waiting for the next round of pressure.
