Panorama Produce is recalling 302 boxes of mangoes sold at Walmart stores in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania after FDA sampling found Salmonella in fruit grown on the same farm. The recall covers mangoes packed in Martina-branded cases and distributed from Aug. 10 through Aug. 21.
The product can be identified by a light blue sticker marked Agrofepac and Produce of Mexico, plus PLU number 4584 and UPC # 07503061948050. That matters because the recalled fruit was moving through ordinary retail shelves, not some separate food channel, and shoppers may only know they bought the right package if they check those labels.
The recall was triggered after FDA sampling turned up Salmonella in mangoes from the same source farm, even though those exact mangoes were not sent into U.S. commerce. Panorama Produce then pulled the 302 boxes that had already gone into distribution, a narrower step than a farm-wide removal but enough to reach consumers across four states.
That distinction is the part shoppers should not miss. The mangoes linked to the sampling were not the ones now in stores, but they shared the same source, which is why the recall reaches farther than a single batch and why the labels matter more than the fruit itself. No illnesses have been reported to date, but Salmonella contamination does not usually leave a visible sign, smell or taste.
Anyone who bought the recalled mangoes should dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase. For shoppers in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the question now is not whether the fruit looks bad. It is whether the case in hand matches the label on the recall.
