The Philadelphia Eagles waived Myles Hinton on Saturday, moving on from the 2025 sixth-round pick after a summer that never gave him much traction. The change came after the team had already shifted him from guard back to offensive tackle earlier this offseason.
That is why his name is drawing attention now. Hinton, 24, was reported waived by Adam Schefter, and the move makes him the third member of the Eagles' 2025 NFL Draft class to be dismissed by the team. It also leaves open the possibility that he could return to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
For Hinton, the details matter because this was not a clean break from one position to another. The Eagles experimented with him at guard, then sent him back to offensive tackle, a sign they were still searching for the best fit while trying to keep a recent draft pick in the mix. He struggled this summer, and that apparently outweighed the upside the team saw when it brought him in.
There is also a wrinkle in the decision. Jeff Stoutland seemed to be a big fan of Hinton when he was drafted, which makes the waiver move harder to read as anything other than a real setback. The Eagles did not treat that admiration as enough reason to keep him on the active roster, even with a developmental path still available.
Hinton is now in waiver territory, where the next step depends on whether another team wants him before the Eagles can try to bring him back. If he goes unclaimed, a return to the practice squad would keep him in the building and give Philadelphia another chance to keep developing a player it had once hoped could stick.
The Eagles have still kept several 2025 draft picks on the roster, but Hinton is no longer among them. That leaves his status as one of the first clear roster losses from the class and one of the few roster questions still unresolved after Saturday.
