Nfl Week 7 Start 'em Sit 'em: Love, Prescott and Mahomes stand out

Week 7 fantasy lineups got a fresh set of quarterback calls from Matt Okada, and the biggest one is also the hardest to swallow: Patrick Mahomes is the sit. At the same time, Jordan Love, Dak Prescott, C.J. Stroud, Kyler Murray and Kirk Cousins are the starts Okada is leaning on for managers trying to sort out a thin quarterback week.

That matters now because the column is built for the exact sort of decisions fantasy managers are making before Week 7 kicks off. Okada says Start 'Em, Sit 'Em is meant to help with difficult roster calls, and he frames the new Start of the Week and Sit of the Week as the most notable recommendations in each category, not just the most obvious names. In other words, this is not a list for show. It is a guide for lineups that can swing on one quarterback choice.

Love is the clearest green light. He had topped 18 fantasy points in four of six games, piled up 45.52 fantasy points over his last two outings combined and sat third in passing yards with 1,684. He had also accounted for multiple touchdowns in every game, while Detroit has been dead last in pass yards allowed per game and dead last in EPA per dropback on deep throws at 1.41. Love’s 32 attempts of 20-plus air yards also line up with that vulnerability.

Prescott’s case is more matchup-driven, but the same logic runs through the rest of the starts. Philadelphia has allowed 19-plus fantasy points to four of the last five quarterbacks it faced. Stroud has thrown for 920 yards, six touchdowns and one interception since Nico Collins returned in Week 4. Murray has increased his fantasy output in each successive game entering the bye, and he posted a season-high 51 rushing yards and 18.26 fantasy points against the Saints in Week 5. Cousins has scored at least 18.5 fantasy points in four of the last five weeks. The thread connecting all five names is simple: the numbers suggest usable production is available if fantasy managers are willing to trust the matchup.

Mahomes is where the column gets interesting. He is still the QB10 in points per game, he has a 5-0 record and a 103.1 passer rating, and yet he has not cleared 17 fantasy points in a game since opening the year with two performances above 21. He is coming off a season-low 10.48 fantasy points against the Chargers, and he did not throw a touchdown pass in that game. Even with Rashee Rice possibly returning in Week 7, Seattle is allowing league-lows of 156.8 passing yards per game, 5.2 yards per attempt and 81.7 yards after catch per game. That matters because 62.4% of Mahomes’ production in 2026 has come on yards after catch, the third-highest share for any quarterback.

For fantasy managers, the message is less about reputation than usage and matchup. Mahomes has the résumé, but the production profile is not matching it right now. Love and the other starts are getting the nod because their paths to points look cleaner in Week 7, and the next test is whether those matchups hold up once the games are played.
