USA Basketball turned to Terry Stotts for his first coaching assignment with the program and named a 12-man roster for the August 2026 USA Men’s World Cup Qualifying Window 4 team, setting the stage for a road game at Chile on Aug. 27. The same group will then return home to face Colombia on Aug. 31, with the window opening after training camp in Miami from Aug. 20-24.
Stotts takes over a roster built around players who have already crossed paths with USA Basketball. Jaron Blossomgame, Darius Brown, DeJon Jarreau and Dillon Jones are in the team for the first time, while Pedro Bradshaw, Kevon Harris, Mike James and Orlando Robinson are back after helping the USA go 2-0 in road games against Dominican Republic and Mexico in the last window. Garrison Brooks returns from Window 1, James Nunnally is back after appearing in 2021 FIBA Men’s AmeriCup Qualifying, Tyler Smith returns after the 2022 USA Men’s Junior National Team October minicamp and Cole Swider is back for the first time since the 2018 Nike Hoop Summit.
The roster and schedule matter because the USA enters Window 4 sitting second in Group E behind Brazil, even with a 5-1 record after the first three windows. In practical terms, that means the Americans can still control their path, but they no longer sit where a team with a 5-1 mark would usually expect to be. The top three teams in Group E after the six games from Windows 4 through 6 qualify for the World Cup, along with the best fourth-place finisher in Group E or F, so every road result now carries extra weight.
That is why Stotts’ first assignment is less about ceremony than about getting a short-handed window right. Clay Moser and Marlon Garnett will assist him, and Jonathan Yim will make his USA Basketball debut as a scout, but the biggest test belongs to the 12 players who have only a few days together before the team departs for Santiago. The opener at Chile is set for 7:10 ET, and the follow-up against Colombia is set for 7:00 ET, leaving little room for a slow start or a wasted possession.
The larger picture is straightforward: USA Basketball is moving through six qualifying windows from November 2025 to March 2027, and the next two games will help determine whether the USA stays in position for one of the seven FIBA Americas berths to the 2027 FIBA Men’s World Cup in Doha, Qatar. Stotts gets his first chance to shape that run now, and the roster he was given will be judged almost immediately in Chile.
