Egor Demin will not return to Tuesday's game against Boston after leaving with a right leg contusion, a sudden exit that cut short a night that had been modest on the box score but important to the rotation. He was seen holding his leg and limped to the locker room with 2:22 left in the first half.
Demin finished with two points, one rebound, two assists and one steal in 10 minutes, going 1-3 from the field and 0-2 from 3-point range before the injury took him out. The numbers do not tell the whole story, but they do show how quickly the game changed for him and for The Nets once he could not continue.
The immediate concern now is not what happened in the first half but whether he is ready for Friday, when The Nets do not play again until Detroit. That gap gives him extra days to recover, yet it also leaves the lineup in flux if he cannot go. Keon Ellis or Mikel Brown could move into the starting group, and both would be in line for more minutes if Demin is unavailable.
For a player who was still building on a small but active contribution, the injury matters because it arrives at the point when availability starts to shape everything else. If Demin is cleared by Friday, the interruption may be brief. If not, The Nets will have to fill a spot that opened in the middle of a game and may stay open through the next one.
