FanDuel put three player props on the board for Tuesday’s NBA slate, and all three point the same way for bettors watching Nba Tonight: Jayson Tatum under 26.5 points, Victor Wembanyama under 28.5 points, and Austin Reaves over 23.5 points. It is a small slate, just four games, which makes every scoring line feel a little sharper than usual.
That is why the Tatum number matters. He has averaged 24.0 points through Boston’s first three games, stayed below 26.5 twice, and logged only 28 minutes Monday in a 134-99 win over Chicago after scoring 23 points. Boston is a 11.5-point favorite over the Brooklyn Nets, who are 0-3, and that spread is part of the case: if the Celtics control the game early, Tatum may not need a big fourth quarter to finish the job.
The under on Wembanyama is built on a similar logic, but the details are different. He has scored 12, 25 and 23 points in his first three games, is averaging 20.0 points per game and has not reached 28 points once. He also has attempted 21 or fewer shots in every game this season, even though he has played 34, 32 and 29 minutes. San Antonio is favored by 18.5 points tonight, and that kind of margin can shave the late-game volume that usually pushes star props upward.
Reaves is the outlier, and he is the reason the Lakers game looks like the most playable matchup on the card. He has scored 23, 28 and 29 points to start the season, is averaging 26.7 points per game, and has cleared 23.5 in each of his past two outings. He played 38 minutes and 36 minutes in those games, went 10-of-13 from the field against the Clippers and 7-of-12 in Sunday’s win over Utah, and the Lakers are only 2.5-point favorites over Portland in a game with a 234.5-point total. That setup gives Reaves more room to keep scoring deep into the second half.
The wrinkle is that these props are not frozen in place. FanDuel’s numbers can move through the day, and the short slate means one change in pace, rotation or game flow can matter more than it would on a busier night. For now, the best read on Tuesday is clear: Boston and San Antonio carry more blowout risk, while the Lakers game offers the most competitive script for a points over.
