A preliminary crash report says Alyshia Rushing, the TikTok creator known as Mama-A, was driving the wrong way on I-85 when her SUV hit a pickup head-on in Montgomery, killing her and Landon Dunn. The wreck happened Saturday shortly after 2 a.m. between the Taylor Road and Chantilly Parkway exits.
The crash left a third person injured, and it turned a fast-moving weekend wreck into a case now being read for what it can and cannot explain. Rushing was 26 and Dunn was 20, and the report says the vehicles struck each other head-on after Rushing's 2013 Kia Sorento traveled northbound in the southbound lanes and hit Dunn's 2015 Toyota Tacoma.
That detail is why the crash has drawn attention now. Rushing had nearly 540,000 followers on TikTok, where she posted as Mama-A, and Dunn was a Greenville resident. A GoFundMe was set up for Rushing's family, and another was started by a family friend for Dunn.
What the report does not say is as important as what it does. It does not explain why Rushing was in the southbound lanes, and it does not give the speed of either vehicle. For now, the only official medical step still ahead is testing on the autopsies and toxicology reports from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
That leaves the central question open, even as the basic facts are fixed: two young drivers were killed in a wrong-way crash on I-85, a third person was hurt, and the next answers will have to come from the pending tests rather than the preliminary report.
