Jacob Elordi brought Rak Jasper to The Dog Stars premiere in London, turning the red carpet into a rare two-star entrance. Rak Jasper, his canine co-star, walked the event beside him and drew as much attention as the actor himself.
Elordi kept the look sharp for the night, stepping out in a navy pinstripe double-breasted suit, a crisp white shirt and a dark-blue tie, then finishing with black patent-leather loafers and small silver hoop earrings. He also kept his mullet and mustache, a familiar part of his image as the film promotion gathered pace.
The appearance matters because The Dog Stars is not a standard studio drama with a token pet at the edge of the frame. Rak Jasper is one of three trained dogs used in the movie, and the premiere put that detail at the center of the publicity push. The film stars Elordi alongside Margaret Qualley and is based on Peter Heller's 2012 novel of the same name, which means the event was tied not just to a cast photo but to a book adaptation with a built-in fan base.
The film's premise gives the dog's appearance extra weight. Set after an influenza outbreak wipes out most of the human population, The Dog Stars follows two men among the few survivors left, living at an abandoned airport with only an aging dog named Jasper for company. That makes Rak Jasper's arrival on the carpet feel like a nod to the story itself, even if the naming connection between the canine co-star and the dog in the plot is left unexplained.
There is still one detail the film leaves hanging: Rak Jasper is billed as one of three trained dogs, but the movie has not made clear which of the trio appears most prominently on screen. For now, the clearest answer is the one Elordi offered at the premiere itself. When the film needed a public face, he arrived with the dog by his side, and that image may end up doing as much work as any trailer in setting up the release.
