Law Roach says Keke Palmer ended their styling partnership after he pushed to show off her baby bump and she wanted to keep the pregnancy hidden. He revisited the split on the October 20 episode of Aspire with Emma Grede, describing it as a business decision that made sense even if it ended their work together.

The timing matters because Palmer later turned that pregnancy into one of her most talked-about public moments. On December 3, 2022, while hosting Saturday Night Live, she opened her jacket during the monologue and revealed her bump, a reveal that came only after she had decided the moment was hers to control.

Roach said he was excited by the fashion possibilities of Palmer's first pregnancy and wanted to build looks around it, but he also said he could not get the looks right and could not get the energy right. His version of events is blunt: he was trying to find clothes that would conceal her changing figure, while Palmer told him, “You may be the best stylist in the world, but you are not the best stylist for me,” before the split became final.

That disagreement was not really about a single outfit. It was about who controlled the story around a body changing in public. Roach said the announcement belonged to Palmer, including the decision about when to make it, and he said the firing still leaves him fond of her because she made the decision she needed to make. In his telling, the rupture came from competing instincts: he wanted a reveal, she wanted privacy until she chose otherwise.

The split did not end the public interest in how the two spoke about one another. Palmer later joined Roach at a panel for his book How to Build a Fashion Icon in October 2024 and, when the topic came up, joked that “Law lives for a drag.” Roach and Palmer returned to the subject again on the July 15, 2025 episode of Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, where the conversation was framed around boundaries, breakups and comebacks.

The unresolved part is not whether they disagreed. It is what Roach would have actually put on Palmer had she agreed to his plan before the pregnancy was public. Roach said he had ideas for presenting the bump, but he never spelled out the specific looks, leaving the story less about one missed outfit than about how much control a celebrity keeps over a major personal reveal.
