Kelly Osbourne fired back at Dee Snider on Aug. 14 after he questioned how much of Ozzy Osbourne's music he wrote himself. In an Instagram Stories response, she said her father's work as a musician, songwriter, singer and bandleader "speaks for itself" and accused Snider of trying to cut him down after his death.
The exchange landed because it reopened a fight that never fully went away. Snider had posted on X two days earlier that Ozzy "always had bass players write his lyrics," named Geezer Butler, Bob Daisley and Lemmy Kilmister as key writers, and said he knew "too much about the truth behind the scenes."
Kelly did not leave much room for doubt about where she stood. She called Snider "spectacularly classless," suggested he was using the row to get attention and said Ozzy helped shape heavy metal with Black Sabbath before building a solo career that lasted for decades. She also drew a contrast between her father's long run and Twisted Sister's shorter stretch of major mainstream success.
That response mattered because it came more than a year after Ozzy died on July 22, 2025, at 76. By then, the argument over credit had already become part of the larger story around his legacy: who wrote what, who got named, and how much of the myth around his solo work was built by the people around him as much as by the frontman himself. Daisley has long spoken about his work on Ozzy's early solo albums, and Lemmy also received writing credits on songs from No More Tears.
Snider's comments did not go so far as to say Ozzy had no role in making the music, but Kelly treated the timing as the insult. That leaves the dispute sitting exactly where public family fights often do: with one side defending a legacy that cannot answer back, and the other still deciding whether to let the criticism stand. At the time of publication, Snider had not publicly answered her latest attack.
