Chase Bison Ties: Cardinals rookie leaves Raiders preseason game with knee injury

Chase Bisontis left the Cardinals' preseason game in Las Vegas on Thursday with a left knee injury and was ruled out for the night. He was helped off the field after trainers tended to him, putting minimal weight on the leg as he exited.

That matters because Bisontis entered the NFL as the No. 34 pick in this year's draft, the kind of start that usually comes with immediate expectations. Instead, his night ended early in a pass protection rep early in the second half, when a player appeared to roll up on his left leg.

Bisontis had spent training camp and preseason working with the Cardinals' backup offensive line, so his availability was already tied to a group the team may need in a hurry. If he misses significant time, the hit would go beyond one preseason game and into how the Cardinals manage depth up front.

The larger concern is not just that he left, but that the injury is to a knee and the team did not have an answer by the end of the night. A preseason exit can be a brief scare or the start of a longer absence, and the difference often decides whether a rookie keeps building momentum or gets pulled into recovery instead.

That uncertainty lands at a time when the Cardinals have already been dealing with rookie injuries. Darius Robinson missed 11 games with a calf injury in 2024, Walter Nolen missed 11 games in 2025 with a series of setbacks, Kaleb Proctor suffered a season-ending torn meniscus this season, and Carson Beck was hurt last week in the Hall of Fame Game before practicing in full this week.

For now, the cleanest reading is that Bisontis' status is unresolved beyond Thursday night. If he begins the season on injured reserve, Hayden Conner could open a roster spot, but the club does not yet know whether the knee injury will force that kind of move or simply cost him more time in the preseason.
