Reece Weaver will make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Monday, Sept. 7, 2026, starting a six-week limited engagement at the Ambassador Theatre in NYC. Her run is set to end on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026.
The booking puts Weaver at the center of a show that has defined Broadway longevity for years. Chicago, produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, is the No. 1 longest-running American musical in Broadway history and won six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, along with the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.
Weaver arrives with a profile that already reaches beyond dance circles. She was part of the 2023 rookie class of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, stayed with the squad for three seasons, and recently appeared in Netflix's America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. She is originally from Jacksonville, Florida, and has worked as a professional dancer.
Her debut also comes into an already-set company. The current cast of Chicago includes Krysta Rodriguez as Roxie Hart, Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, Mark Ballas as Billy Flynn, Jacqueline B. Arnold as Matron “Mama” Morton, Eddie Cooper as Amos Hart and J. Workman as Mary Sunshine. Weaver will step into the same role for a limited stretch, which makes the transition between performers the story as much as the debut itself.
For Weaver, the start date is the headline and the end date is the guardrail. If the schedule holds, she will spend six weeks making the jump from televised cheerleader and dancer to Broadway leading lady, then leave a role that remains in motion around her.
