YouTube TV was the clear leader in a reader survey of live TV streaming habits, drawing 35.7 percent of responses from more than 1,000 people asked which service they used. Sling TV finished far behind at 4.7 percent, tied with Philo and well below the market leader.

The result matters because it offers a fresh snapshot of how cord-cutting readers are choosing among Live TV options right now. In the same survey, the rest of the field was split among Frndly TV at 9.5 percent, DIRECTV at 5.1 percent, Hulu + Live TV at 3.8 percent and Fubo at 1.6 percent, while all other services together made up 29.4 percent. That leaves YouTube TV alone at more than a third of responses, a larger share than every other listed service combined.

That spread is awkward for Sling TV. It is marketed as a customizable, competitively priced option and is often described as attractive for those on a budget, yet the survey put it at just 4.7 percent. Philo landed on the same number, which suggests that lower cost alone did not separate the two in this group of readers, or push either one close to the top of the field.

The broader backdrop is easy to see in the numbers. YouTube TV is reportedly serving more than 11 million subscribers, and the survey results fit that scale by showing how far ahead it sits among readers looking for alternatives to traditional TV. For Sling TV, the unanswered question is not whether it has a place in the market, but why that place remains modest even among people already interested in live streaming choices.
