has recalled Up & Up baby wipes sold nationwide after regulators said the products may be contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli. Customers who bought the affected wipes were told to stop using them immediately and take them back to any Target store for a full refund.

The recall covers Up & Up Fragrance Free Baby Wipes with manufacturing date codes from November 07, 2025 to May 5, 2026, along with expiration dates between May 10, 2028 and November 5, 2028. It also includes Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes with manufacturing codes from December 29, 2025 to December 30, 2025 and expiration dates from June 29, 2028 to June 30, 2028.

The said products contaminated with those bacteria may cause serious and life-threatening infections. The agency said the wipes are used mainly on newborns, infants and young children, who are especially vulnerable because their immune systems are still developing. It also said use on skin with minor lesions can lead to local infections in healthy people, while in immunocompromised individuals, newborns, infants and young children, the infection can spread into the bloodstream and potentially cause life-threatening sepsis or pneumonia.

That warning lands with extra force because baby wipes are a routine item in homes with very young children, not a niche product tucked away on a high shelf. Target said it had received consumer complaints and adverse event reports tied to discoloration, skin irritation, eye irritation and infections, but it did not say whether any infections were laboratory-confirmed or how many complaints had been received.

The missing details matter. The recall notice identifies the affected product lines and tells customers what to do, but it does not say how many packages are involved or whether any confirmed illnesses have been linked to the wipes. For parents and caregivers checking diaper bags and bathroom cabinets tonight, the action is simple: stop using the recalled wipes and return them for a refund.
