A retirement village bar and restaurant in St Albans is seeking permission to sell alcohol and stage occasional live music and film events. Elysian, St Albans, Operating Company Limited has applied for a new premises licence for at in Oakleigh House, Chiswell Green.

The application would allow alcohol to be served for on-site consumption to residents, homeowners and guests from 8am to 11pm every day. Anyone who wants to object has until June 9 to make written representations to the council’s licensing section.

Those representations must be sent in writing and must set out the grounds for objection. They can be posted to Civic Centre, St Peters Street, St Albans, AL1 3JE, or emailed to licensing@. The full application can be inspected at the council offices Monday to Thursday from 8.45am to 5pm and on Friday from 8.45am to 4.30pm.

The notice also carries the warning that it is an offence, knowingly or recklessly, to make a false statement in connection with an application, with a maximum penalty of a £5,000 fine. For The Oakleigh, the filing is a routine but important step: if approved, it would formalize how the Botane bar and restaurant can operate inside the retirement village, and it gives local residents until June 9 to raise any objection before the council decides the case.
