A spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department said personnel were dispatched at 5:30 p.m. to respond to a medical emergency at Chase Center. TMZ reported that the emergency was a cardiac incident. The person transported to the hospital was not identified, but the event was serious enough to stop the night before the audience got the performance it had come for.
That missing name is the unresolved part of the story. Earth, Wind & Fire said only that the emergency involved a member of the band, without identifying who it was, even as the show was scrubbed and the usual concert logistics were pushed into a later date. For fans, the practical answer is simple: the ticket stays good, but the night is gone.
The broader tour is still on the calendar, with a stop scheduled for Saturday at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert and another on Sunday at Intuit Dome in Inglewood. It is slated to end Aug. 14 at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. For now, though, the immediate question is not the route ahead but when Chase Center gets its replacement date — and whether the hospitalized band member is well enough to return to the road.
