Two people died after a silver Renault Megane left the A228 Pembury Northern Bypass near Pembury and crashed into trees in woodland in Kent on Monday morning.
Emergency services were called at about 11:45 BST after reports that the car had left the road between Tonbridge Road and Old Church Road. The driver, a 64-year-old man, was found dead at the scene. The female passenger, 60, was airlifted to a London hospital but later died.
Police said both people were from the local area. The crash happened on a stretch of road near Tunbridge Wells that carries traffic between local routes, and officers are asking anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward.
The force's appeal suggests investigators still want a clearer picture of exactly how the car came off the bypass. For the families involved, the facts are already final: two local people are dead, and police are now piecing together the last moments before the Renault left the road.
