, the creator and host of the children’s YouTube series Danny Go!, said his son Isaac died Thursday, May 21, after a battle with cancer. Coleman announced the news Friday, May 22, on Instagram, where he posted a headshot of Isaac and a photo of himself holding his son.

“Oh my sweet boy. There’s so much I want to say, but I don’t know how yet,” Coleman wrote. “I already miss you so much, and the pain in my heart is far more than I can process.”

Isaac was 14. In the same tribute, Coleman said his son’s short life was marked by hardship, but also by determination and joy. “Your 14 years were full of so many challenges, but you met them all with such grit…and you somehow kept your trademark joy in spite of it all,” he wrote. “Being your dad was the honor of a lifetime. I’m so proud of you and I love you forever. Rest peacefully, son.”

The death came months after Coleman said Isaac had been diagnosed with stage 3 mouth cancer in a December 2025 . He said at the time that the family had learned the previous week that Isaac had cancer in his mouth, and that they had long feared that outcome because Isaac had Fanconi Anemia from birth. The describes Fanconi Anemia as a rare inherited condition that affects the bone marrow and many other parts of the body.

Coleman wrote in December that the diagnosis, while expected in some form, still landed hard. “we found out last week that Isaac has cancer in his mouth,” he said, adding that “TBH, we always knew this day was coming, as it’s a near certainty w/ Fanconi anemia.” He also said the news arrived earlier than the family had hoped and remained “just such a shocking thing to hear about your child, even if you’ve braced for it for years.”

That tension — between preparation and grief — now defines the family’s loss. Coleman had already told followers that cancer was a likely part of Isaac’s future because of his condition, but his post Friday showed that no amount of warning softens the finality of a child’s death. Related coverage of the announcement and Coleman’s earlier update is available in Danny Go Son Update: Daniel Coleman Announces Death of Son Isaac at 14 and Danny Go Son creator Daniel Coleman mourns death of Isaac at 14.

For Coleman, the question now is not how the family got here. It is how he carries forward after losing the boy he said was the honor of his lifetime to raise.
