The FAA ordered a ground stop at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport until at least noon Tuesday as thunderstorms moved through North Texas, and the disruption quickly rippled across the region’s busiest airport. More than 300 flights had been canceled at DFW by 11:30 a.m., according to flight data from .

The same storm system also forced the FAA to order a departure delay at Dallas Love Field Airport. By Tuesday morning, Love Field had 55 cancellations and nearly 90 delays, with average delays of 30 minutes. DFW was seeing average delays of 45 minutes.

The weather threat was not limited to rain and lightning. The ’s Fort Worth office said storms were expected to arrive Tuesday with the possibility of large hail and damaging winds, raising the chance that the ground stop and delays could continue to shift schedules through the day.
