Chautauqua Institution has added Amy Grant, Josh Groban and Kenny G to its summer schedule, widening a lineup that now includes one of pop music’s most recognizable voices, a Broadway and concert favorite, and a longtime smooth-jazz staple.
Groban will bring his Josh Groban: Stage, Screen and Symphony program to Chautauqua on Thursday, Aug. 13, with tickets going on sale Friday. Kenny G is set for Thursday, Aug. 27, at 8 p.m. in the Chautauqua Amphitheater. The additions come as Groban released a new album on Friday, CINEMATIC, a record built around songs from The Godfather, Casablanca, The Lion King, Stand By Me and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
For Chautauqua, the booking of three widely known performers is a straightforward bid to draw attention to its summer entertainment calendar. Groban has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide and has built a career that has moved easily between concert stages and theater, from his 2016 Broadway debut in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 to his 2022 Radio City Music Hall residency and his 2023 role in the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd.
Kenny G brings a different kind of name recognition. He released his debut album in 1982, and Duotones, his fourth solo album, marked the start of his most commercially successful period in 1986. Breathless went on to become the best-selling instrumental album ever, and Miracles: The Holiday Album sold more than 13 million copies. A documentary about him, Listening to Kenny G, was released by HBO in 2021.
The saxophonist has also long had to defend the size of his audience and the style that made him a star. Asked about criticism, Kenny G said he keeps his confidence by knowing he is doing his very best. That sentiment fits the booking here: Chautauqua is not gambling on novelty, but on performers with proven followings and years of staying power.
Amy Grant was photographed in New York on Thursday, April 16, 2026, and was added to the Chautauqua Institution summer schedule, though no performance date or venue details were provided for her in the announcement. With Groban and Kenny G now set for August, the institution has given its summer calendar a clear commercial lift, and the next thing to watch is whether more high-profile names are still to come.
