Jayam Ravi, also known as Ravi Mohan, said on Saturday that he is stepping away from films for the time being as he focuses on his divorce crisis and pushes back against the wave of speculation surrounding his personal life.
At an emotionally charged press meet held on 16 May 2026, Ravi Mohan said he was not going to act in any movies or release any films for now. He said cyberbullying against him had to end and added that he had spent two years staying silent while others took advantage of that silence. "I am a very quiet person. That silence became my biggest mistake," he said. "People took advantage of it and played their own games."
Ravi Mohan said the reaction to his silence had left him misunderstood. "For two years, I kept my mouth shut," he said. "Now everyone thinks I am weak." He also said he had been raised by a mother who taught him to respect women and that his work had always reflected that. "Even in my films, I have always given importance to female characters," he said. "Yet now I am being humiliated as though I am anti-women."
The press meet came as social media flooded with posts claiming that Kenisha had broken her relationship with Ravi and that Aarti was behind it. Ravi Mohan referred to a "three-letter actress" and an "Idli actress" whom he blamed for destroying his family. He also said he was being blocked from seeing his children. "They send bodyguards with my kids to school," he said. "I am not even allowed to see them."
He said the fight, in his telling, was no longer about public image but about his children. "I am fighting only to ensure my children have a good future," he said. Ravi Mohan added that he did not even have a single personal bank account and had only one joint account, saying any small withdrawal would bring an immediate call asking why he had taken the money. "I suffered in silence despite earning," he said.
The controversy widened further after Kenisha posted that she was leaving Chennai and stepping away from music, therapy and social media, citing relentless online bullying, manipulation and sorcery. For now, Ravi Mohan is betting that the most consequential move is not a new film, but time away from the screen while he tries to settle the personal crisis consuming his public life.
