Prime Video said Thursday that Kelsey Plum will join WNBA on Prime as a player contributor this season, adding a current player’s voice to its coverage as the company deepens its investment in the league. Plum is set to make select appearances throughout the 2026 campaign.
The move gives viewers insight from one of the league’s most recognizable guards. Plum, a Los Angeles Sparks guard, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft, broke the NCAA all-time scoring record at Washington and has built a résumé that includes four All-Star teams, back-to-back WNBA championships with the Las Vegas Aces in 2022 and 2023, and Olympic gold medals with Team USA in 3×3 basketball in 2020 and 5×5 basketball in 2024.
Prime Video is in the first year of an 11-year WNBA deal and will air 31 regular-season games annually, one first-round playoff series each year, seven conference finals series and three WNBA Finals. The company also unveiled a studio team that includes host Allie Clifton, Cynthia Cooper, Swin Cash, Lindsey Harding, Candace Parker, Teresa Weatherspoon and Tamera “Ty” Young, while Michael Grady and Candace Parker lead its top broadcast team. Lisa Byington, Mike Watts, Kara Lawson and LaChina Robinson are part of the game coverage roster, and JayDee Dyer, Kayla Grey and Morgan Ragan will serve as courtside reporters.
Plum’s addition follows a pattern Prime Video used on the NBA side, where Kyle Lowry joined Amazon’s inaugural NBA coverage as an active player contributor in September 2025. The setup is designed to blend broadcast polish with a player’s eye for what actually swings games, and Plum said she wants to bring fans a current player’s perspective while highlighting the personalities and storylines that make the league stand out.
That is the point of the hire. Prime Video is not just filling airtime as it begins a long WNBA rights run; it is betting that an active star can translate the league in a way traditional analysis cannot. For viewers, Plum’s appearances should give the coverage a sharper edge and a sense of urgency that comes from someone still living the season she is describing.
