Brooks Nader says Bad Bunny asked her younger sister Grace Ann Nader for her phone number at the Met Gala, a meet-cute she only pieced together after the fact. The model said Grace Ann, 26, was with her longtime boyfriend Jack Jones when the encounter happened on May 4.
Nader, 29, said her sister told her she had been in the bathroom with a man who looked about 90 years old and asked for her number. Only later did Nader say she realized, “it was Bad Bunny.” She said Grace Ann was “an idiot” for not recognizing him, adding, “She was cracking me up.”
The surprise came with a twist that made sense only once the rapper’s Met Gala look was recalled. Bad Bunny arrived in prosthetics, with gray hair, a matching beard and a cane, dressed as an elderly man. Nader said that disguise was enough to throw off her sister, even though the star’s voice gave him away. “I was in the bathroom with this guy who was like 90 years old, and he had a young person's voice and asked for my number,” she said.
Nader said she does not know whether Grace Ann handed over her number, and she did not chase the story down further. “I didn’t even follow up, because I kind of had FOMO in a little bit of a way,” she said, before adding, “You know what? I'm working,” as she was filming the upcoming Baywatch reboot with Noah Beck and Livvy Dunne.
The exchange landed in comments Nader made on May 14, but it also fit a broader public profile that has kept her in the headlines beyond fashion’s biggest night. She was most recently romantically connected to Taron Egerton after they were seen packing on the PDA during an intimate night out, and before that she was married to advertising executive Billy Haire in New Orleans' French Quarter in December 2019.
Nader has been unusually open about the noise around her personal life, saying her parents reacted badly when she told them she was getting divorced. “When I told my parents I was getting divorced, you’d think I killed somebody,” she said. “They were like, 'This is the worst decision ever. Divorce is a sin.'”
Her comments suggest she sees turbulence as part of the package. “I like a little chaos,” she said. “If it's too calm, I'm out.” She also said, “Wait, I got me. I can do anything I f--king put my mind to,” and added, “I was with someone for 10 years, and I cut it off and came out better.”
For all the headline value in the Bad Bunny story, the point is simpler: Nader treated the whole thing like a joke, not a scandal.
