FC Nantes's final match in the top flight was stopped in the 20th minute on Sunday after several supporters entered the pitch during Nantes Vs at La Beaujoire. The game, already stripped of any sporting stakes by Nantes's relegation the previous weekend, was immediately thrown into chaos.

Some of the supporters who surged onto the field were cagoulés and armed with barres de fer, while fumigènes were thrown and several gobelets also landed on the pitch. The interruption left strong tension around the field, and Vahid Halilhodžić was seen furious and on the verge of tears as the atmosphere turned ugly.

Nantes had already been officially relegated to Ligue 2 after a 1-0 defeat to the weekend before, and Sunday's meeting with Toulouse was supposed to close out the 2025/2026 campaign in the top division. Instead, it exposed how badly the season had collapsed, with the fallout from results and club management turning the stadium into a scene of open anger rather than a farewell.

The pitch invasion felt less like a spontaneous outburst than the end point of a deep fracture between supporters and the club. With Nantes already down, there was no result left to rescue, only a final night that underlined how far the relationship had broken.
