Kimmarie Johnson has died at 50 after suffering a heart event at her home in Los Angeles on Oct. 27. Rhonda Scott said Johnson was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where doctors diagnosed a heart aneurysm condition before she died peacefully Wednesday afternoon after her heart stopped beating.
Johnson was best known for her role in Beverly Hills, 90210, where she played Judy in a 1998 episode titled The Following Options during Season 8. For many viewers, that credit remained the first thing they associated with her, even as her career widened beyond a single television appearance.
She later appeared in the 2000 film Dude, Where’s My Car?, then stepped away from her career in 2003 after the birth of her son, Cameron Nino. Johnson returned to work through independent films and theater, and in 2005 she was executive producer for The Last Eve alongside Young Man Kang, a project that went on to win awards at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
She also launched SkinGlow by Kimmarie in 2011, adding a beauty line to a résumé that already stretched from television to film to producing. Her death leaves one clear fact and one unfinished one: she was taken to the hospital with a heart aneurysm condition, but that diagnosis does not explain what set off the heart event at her home or why it turned fatal so quickly.
What is known now is that Johnson is gone, and the family’s account places the final hours in a tight sequence from her Los Angeles home to Cedars-Sinai Hospital to her death on Wednesday. The unanswered part is the one doctors and relatives do not spell out here — what happened inside the heart in those hours, and whether it can be traced to the condition they identified.
