Bodø/glimt Vs Losc: Tuesday clash carries top-24 stakes

Bodo/Glimt host Lille at Aspmyra Stadion on Tuesday with both clubs still searching for a lift in the Champions League league phase. The Norwegian side are 28th and trying to avoid a third defeat in four, while Lille are 35th and still waiting for their first points of the campaign.

The timing matters because the table is already separating the hopefuls from the also-rans. Bodo/Glimt are three points shy of the top 24, and Lille are six points behind the top eight, so a result here would immediately change the shape of their route through the competition. Bodo/Glimt also arrive with momentum from a 3-2 win over Viking FK on Friday, a result that drew them level on points in second place in the Eliteserien.

On current form, this is not a straightforward task for either side. Bodo/Glimt scored in all but one of their 13 matches this season, which gives them a route into games even when the margins are thin. That matters after a 4-3 loss to Napoli in their last Champions League match, a defeat that left them with little room for another slip if they want to stay in touch with the top 24.

Lille have their own argument for optimism. They beat Lens 1-0 on Friday after going four matches without a win in all competitions, and they remain second only to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1. But their European record has not followed the same line. They lost 3-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on October 10 and 4-2 to Galatasaray at home two weeks before this match, leaving them with no Champions League points at all.

That split between domestic strength and European failure is the reason Tuesday feels bigger than a normal group-stage follow-up. Lille can point to their league form and their ability to beat Lens, but the league phase does not care about that record if the points do not arrive on the continent. The same is true for Bodo/Glimt, who have to convert home advantage into something more durable than a good night.

The teams also come in with selection issues that could shape the match as much as the table does. Bodo/Glimt will be without Julian Faye Lund, Isak Sjong, Hakon Evjen and August Mikkelsen, while Nikita Haikin should continue in goal and Patrick Berg and Sondre Fet could anchor central midfield. Ole Didrik Blomberg and Andreas Helmersen could lead the line. Lille are missing Ethan Mbappe for the final game of his suspension after his red card against Real Betis on matchday one, and Hamza Igamane is out with a knee injury. Ayase Ueda is still working back from a foot injury, which leaves Olivier Giroud as the likely focal point, with Dilane Bakwa, Hakon Haraldsson and Soriba Diaoune behind him and Maxima Goffi set to start at right-back.

Tiago Santos is also a major absence for Lille after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear and meniscus damage against Le Havre on October 12. That injury has stripped away one more option from a side already trying to balance a strong league campaign with a European run that has yet to deliver. Tuesday now asks a simple question: can Bodo/Glimt turn their home edge into a move toward the top 24, or can Lille finally make their domestic form count where it has not yet mattered?
