Chris Youngblood was back on the floor Saturday, making his first appearance of the 2026-27 campaign and scoring three points in Portland’s 112-90 victory over the Jazz. He played seven minutes, went 1-for-4 from the field and 1-for-4 from three-point range, and gave Portland another body in a backcourt that has been under pressure.

For Youngblood, the return mattered because he had not played earlier this season while battling an ankle injury. That made Saturday his first chance to show where he fits after a stretch on the sideline, and it came at a moment when Portland already has Damian Lillard, Ja Morant, Jrue Holiday and Scoot Henderson in the mix.

That crowded group is part of why the next step is not simple. Morant has been sidelined for an extended period with a hamstring injury, opening a door for more minutes elsewhere, but Portland still has four established backcourt players competing for time. Youngblood did not do much in the box score beyond his three points, yet his seven minutes were enough to put him back into the conversation.

What happens next is the real question now. Youngblood could get more run moving forward, but Saturday only showed that he is available again after the ankle injury and ready to compete for a larger role if Portland chooses to expand his minutes.
