Joel Embiid was listed as questionable Monday morning, and that made the only real question around Bulls Vs 76ers whether Philadelphia would have its center for a game it should control. The Philadelphia 76ers host the Chicago Bulls on Monday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, PA, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
Embiid’s status came after he carried the same questionable designation before missing the second leg of the weekend back-to-back on Saturday because of plantar fasciitis injury management. The timing matters because Philadelphia enters Monday at 6-1, while Chicago is 1-5 and has already dropped four straight. In a matchup like this, the Sixers should not need to spend the night chasing the game.
That expectation is backed by the numbers. Chicago ranks 29th of 30 in field goal percentage at 41.4 percent, last in three-point percentage at 28.1 percent, 25th in offensive rating, 28th in defensive rating, 24th in turnovers per game and 28th in personal fouls per game. The Bulls’ offensive shape leaves little margin for error, especially against a Philadelphia team that can lean on a cleaner half-court attack if Embiid is available.
There is still a reason the question hangs over the evening instead of disappearing before tipoff. Philadelphia is trying to manage Embiid carefully, and that can change the way the Sixers handle a game they are expected to win comfortably. If he sits again, the burden shifts to the rest of the rotation in a one-game homestand before the team heads back on the road for several games.
The Bulls arrive with some production, but not enough to offset the larger problems. Caleb Wilson, the 2026 fourth-overall pick out of the University of North Carolina, is averaging 21.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Norman Powell is adding 20.7 points per game, Josh Giddey is at 7.5 assists per game and Tre Jones is supplying 3.0 assists off the bench, yet Chicago’s record and efficiency numbers still point to a team searching for traction rather than one ready to challenge a rested Philadelphia side.
That leaves Embiid’s status as the detail that still matters most. If he plays, Philadelphia gets the kind of matchup it should use to stay in command. If he does not, the 76ers still hold the edge, but the game becomes less about the record gap and more about how much of the night they want to spend proving they can cover it without him.
