The Chicago Bears will be without Kyle Monangai again on Monday night, ruling him out for the matchup with the Seattle Seahawks because of thumb and toe injuries. It will be his fourth straight game missed.
That is the headline in a bears injury report that otherwise brought better news for Chicago. T.J. Edwards and Jack Sanborn have no injury designation and will play, and Colston Loveland is also cleared after being full in practice today following a neck issue that had put him on the report yesterday.
Monangai has not played since the Bears’ win over the New York Jets on October 4, and his absence remains the most important change for Chicago as the team turns to a Monday night game with real stakes. The Bears are 5-2, the Seahawks 4-3, and the report landed with both teams needing to sort out who is available when the game kicks off.
There is also a split in the Bears’ own injury picture that makes Monangai’s status stand out more. Malik Muhammad is questionable with a toe injury, and D’Marco Jackson is questionable with an ankle injury, but the clear green light for Edwards, Sanborn and Loveland leaves Monangai as the one notable holdout from the group Chicago most wants back.
The Seahawks had their own list of absences and uncertainty. Charles Cross, Rashid Shaheed and Velus Jones were ruled out, Uchenna Nwosu is doubtful with an ankle injury, and Anthony Bradford, Drew Lock, Patrick O’Connell and Brandon Pili are questionable. Of that group, only Lock practiced today, and even then he was limited, while Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet do not carry injury designations.
That leaves Chicago with one fewer option in the backfield and Seattle with a thinner picture across several spots, but Monangai’s absence is the one that keeps the Bears’ update pointed in one direction. He is out, he has now missed four straight games, and the next answer the Bears have to provide is when they expect him back on the field.
