The Portland Trail Blazers assigned Yang Hansen to the Rip City Remix today, moving the second-year center off the NBA roster and back to their G League affiliate. The team announced the move on X.

The assignment gives the Trail Blazers a more flexible roster while sending Hansen to a place where he can get steadier minutes than he has found so far this season. He was selected 16th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft and has appeared in only one of Portland’s three games.

That limited role is the reason the move lands with weight. In the season opener against the Phoenix Suns, Hansen played 12 minutes and finished with 5 points and 3 rebounds, then did not appear again across the next two games. For a player drafted that high, the gap between expectation and usage has been hard to miss.

The pattern is not new. During his rookie season, Hansen bounced between the Rip City Remix and the Trail Blazers squad several times, so this assignment fits a development track the organization already used with him. The G League route has become the practical answer when the NBA minutes are not there, even for a player with first-round draft value.

What remains unclear is how long Hansen will stay with the Rip City Remix. For now, the move changes his immediate role and puts him back in the same system that has already served as his bridge between the NBA and the G League.
