Dick’s Sporting Goods will keep select stores open late Tuesday night if the Brewers win the World Series game, giving fans a same-night chance to buy Brewers World Series merch after the final out. The plan also calls for those stores to open early Wednesday morning for shoppers who miss the late-night window.
The added hours apply to three stores: the Janesville location on Milton Avenue, the East Towne Mall location in Madison and the West Towne Mall location in Madison. Brewers fans can also order official World Series gear online and pick it up in-store or curbside, so the merchandise will be available even if they do not make it inside before closing.
The timing makes the move notable. The Brewers are up 3-0 in the Best-of-7 series against the Tampa Bay Rays after a 10-1 win Monday night, and Game 4 is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tropicana Field. If Milwaukee closes it out, the stores are ready to turn a win on the field into a rush for championship gear within hours.
That is the point of the late-night plan, but it also shows the business side of a title chase that is not finished yet. Dick’s Sporting Goods is preparing for a championship surge before the Brewers have actually clinched, which means the extra hours only matter if Tuesday night ends with a title. If it does, fans in Janesville and Madison will not have to wait until another day to get the gear.
