Bravo has given Charmed by a Southern Monster a series greenlight, making it the network’s first original scripted microdrama and putting Craig Conover in the lead. The show will stream exclusively on the Peacock mobile app.

The announcement landed on Oct. 23, just ahead of Bravo Fan Fest 2026, which gives the news a ready-made audience and a clear clock. Conover said he loves the work and likes that the project shoots for 12 weeks, a sign he is treating this as more than a one-off detour from Southern Charm.

In the new series, Conover plays Hunter Caldwell opposite Nicole Mattox as Maeve Marchant. Maeve is a corporate fixer sent to convince Hunter to sell his family’s estate, and the setup turns quickly into soapy romance, workplace rivalry and small-town mystery. Bravo is not hiding the pitch: the story is built to feel fast, glossy and serial, with the kind of hook designed to keep viewers moving from one episode to the next on a phone screen.

But the premise is not tidy. Hunter is described as a rumored murderer, even as the same story says he may be the only person who can protect Maeve from her dangerous ex-boyfriend. That contradiction is doing the work here. Maeve’s growing connection with Hunter is also threatened by family secrets and a billion-dollar development deal, which makes the romance look less like an escape than a trap with better lighting.

For Conover, the move also fits a bigger shift. He announced Plaid Horse Productions in September 2025 and has been talking more openly about scripted work, saying over the last two years he has had meetings with NBC and Rob Lowe, wants to do more, and does not want to go anywhere. He also said he loves the business and that the support around his scripted projects has made it fun.

The timing matters, too, because Bravo has paired the new series with his return to Southern Charm Season 12 on Thursday, Nov. 12, while Charmed by a Southern Monster premieres Monday, Nov. 9. No trailer is out yet, which leaves the launch resting on the premise, the cast and Conover’s own enthusiasm. For now, Bravo has done what it wanted to do: it has turned a reality star into the face of its first scripted microdrama and set the clock running.
