Subway is moving its National Sandwich Day celebration up to Tuesday, Oct. 27, and using the early date to bring back the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub. The company said the one-week shift puts the promotion ahead of midterm Election Day and gives the sandwich its own day in the spotlight.
For Jeff Klein, the date change is part timing, part reset. He said Subway was not going to let National Sandwich Day become an afterthought, especially with the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub returning after fans and franchisees asked for it. The chain is also bringing back the Caramel Apple Cookie, turning the promotion into more than a single-item comeback.
The Footlong BOGO offer will be automatically added to current and new Sub Club members' wallets in the Subway app, and it can be redeemed at participating U.S. restaurants through app and online orders only. That makes the promotion a limited digital offer as much as a menu event, with the brand leaning on its app to push the day early.
The sandwich itself is built around rotisserie-style chicken marinated in enchilada sauce, Fritos corn chips, smoky Baja Chipotle sauce, Monterey Cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and red onions. The cookie return is equally specific: apple pieces, caramel chips and salted caramel crunch finished with a caramel icing drizzle. Paul Fabre described the sandwich as a mix of depth, heat and crunch, while the cookie was framed as a fall finish.
There is one wrinkle in the timing. National Sandwich Day normally falls on Tuesday, Nov. 3, but Subway has claimed Tuesday, Oct. 27 for its own version of the occasion. That move is not just a calendar quirk; it lets the company make a fresh promotion out of a date that would otherwise arrive without much noise, and it gives the return of a fan-requested sandwich a cleaner runway.
The announcement also fits the company’s broader Feed Your SUBconscious brand platform, which it launched in September with Will Arnett as the inner voice. Klein summed up the pitch plainly: listen to your SUBconscious, because it has apparently been asking for Fritos. For Subway, the next step is straightforward now that the date is set — the early celebration lands on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and that is when the comeback starts.
