A24 has released the first full trailer for Slayground and set Jeremy Saulnier’s Halloween-set thriller for theaters on January 29, 2027. The film, which was previously titled October, is the director’s return to the kind of genre work that made his name.

The trailer puts Metal Mike Graves at the center of the story. He wakes up inside a haunted attraction surrounded by the dead bodies of his co-workers, with no memory of how they got there, while a state-wide manhunt closes in and he races to uncover the truth even if it leads straight back to him. That setup gives the title its bite: a grim Halloween backdrop, a fugitive on the run, and a mystery built to make the viewer doubt the man at its center.

Saulnier’s cast is spread across the production’s sharp-edged ensemble, with Imogen Poots, James Badge Dale, Matty Matheson, Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde and Young Mazino all aboard. The trailer does not spell out each role, but the structure makes their function clear enough: they are the people around Mike Graves, the workers, witnesses and possible threats whose presence turns the haunted attraction into a trap rather than a setting.

The change from October to Slayground does more than polish the marketing. It shifts the film away from a simple calendar marker and toward something more aggressive, a title that sounds like a place where danger is the point. That fits a story in which every clue appears to pull the lead character closer to blame, and where the question is not whether the trap is real but whether Graves is walking into one he already knows.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross provide new music for the film, adding another layer of pressure to a project that now has a public launch date nearly a year and a half away. For Saulnier, the trailer is the first full signal that Slayground is ready to be sold as a sharp, nasty ride rather than just announced as one. The next thing to watch is whether the film can make its central mystery land as hard as its title does when it opens on January 29, 2027.
