Xalapa kept its Centro de Mando del Consejo de Protección Civil active on 17 October 2025 after impacts from Frente Frío número 2 left 39 fallen trees across 28 colonias and forced a municipal response that was still underway. Daniela Griego Ceballos said the center would remain active to coordinate the response and safeguard the population.

The search for the story right now is the damage itself: two automobiles were affected, 120 people and about 25 units were deployed, and the work had not fully ended. Municipal teams from Protección Civil, Seguridad Ciudadana y Tránsito Municipal, DIF, Alumbrado Público, Limpia Pública and Medio Ambiente were joined by the H. Cuerpo de Bomberos de Xalapa, the Escuadrón Nacional de Emergencias and the Comisión Federal de Electricidad.

Since early morning, the agencies had been removing trees brought down by strong wind gusts. Protection Civil staff also used loudspeakers in 51 colonias to warn residents about possible wind effects, a sign that the response was not only about clearing debris but also about keeping people out of harm’s way as the weather stayed unstable.

That is why the report still carried a wrinkle: authorities said streets were free of obstructions, yet 11 of the fallen trees were still being attended to at the time. The cleanup had moved enough to reopen circulation, but not enough to say the problem was finished.

The command center was set to stay active through Saturday and Sunday, which means the city is treating the cold front as an ongoing operational risk rather than a one-day event. What comes next is not a new announcement but the last stretch of cleanup, with crews still watching for wind-related incidents and the remaining trees still waiting to be cleared.
