Sean Combs was moved earlier on Friday from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood in Pennsylvania after spending several days in solitary confinement following a head injury. The transfer shifted him from one minimum-security facility to another while his prison-release date stayed set for March 2, 2028.

The move comes as attention around Combs has intensified for reasons that go beyond the prison transfer itself. He was convicted by a New York City jury in July 2025 of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and later sentenced in September 2025 to a 50-month prison term with time served, making his custody status a matter of immediate public scrutiny.

Combs had been pulled out of Fort Dix’s general population of more than 4,000 and placed in a Special Housing Unit before the transfer, then spent several days in solitary confinement. He had also been in the hospital a week earlier because of a still-unspecified head injury, which is the detail that has kept the story alive even as the prison move was completed.

The Bureau of Prisons denied reports that the injury came from a fight with Christopher Coke, but it has not said what did cause it. That gap matters because the transfer has been presented as a safety decision, yet the underlying event that triggered the hospital visit remains unresolved.

Juda Engelmayer said the move from one low-security facility to another was an important distinction and that he could not speak to the Bureau of Prisons’ specific reasons for it, but he praised the agency for taking safety and security seriously. He also said Combs should be able to keep serving his time without unnecessary disruption.

For now, that is where the story stands: at a new prison, in continued separation from the general population, with a release date that has not changed and an injury that still has no public explanation. Until the cause is pinned down, the transfer answers where Combs is being held, but not why the case around him keeps deepening.
