Pokemon Beats Pill collaboration gets October 15 release time on Apple

Beats has turned its tease into a real product: a Pikachu-themed Beats Pill speaker is coming on October 15 at 11am ET on apple.com. The new version ties Beats by Dre to Pokémon, moving the collaboration from rumor to a timed release.

That timing matters because the speaker had been floating around online for days without a date. Beats first posted a shadowy silhouette of a pill-shaped Bluetooth speaker with yellow lightning and the line, “Time to catch something new,” but stopped short of saying when it would be sold.

The search interest makes sense. Fans had already spent weeks connecting the dots after Pikachu visited the Apple campus during an August hardware event and was later seen with Apple executives Tim Cook and John Ternus. A Facebook user then added fuel to the speculation by posting a photo of a Beats Pill package with a Pikachu theme in a shopping cart, making the idea of a real product feel less like wishful thinking and more like something waiting for an announcement.

The announcement now gives the rumor a finish line. According to a press release from The Pokémon Company, the speaker will be available at 11am ET on October 15 through apple.com, and Beats confirmed that the collaboration is a Pikachu-themed Pill speaker from Beats by Dre. The base Beats Pill was brought back from the product graveyard in 2024 and sells for $150, so this special edition appears to be a themed release rather than a new hardware tier, with no separate price disclosed for the Pikachu version.

That also leaves one thing unresolved in a way buyers will notice: Beats has not detailed any changes beyond the themed exterior. The teaser pointed to yellow lightning and the Pikachu link, but not to new features, packaging extras, or a different speaker spec, and the company did not offer a release date when it first previewed the product. For now, the only firm next step is the October 15 sale window, when the Pokémon crowd and the Beats crowd will find out whether the collaboration is a collector’s item or just a familiar speaker in costume.
