A weak cold front is sliding south through Central Florida on Tuesday, and it is bringing the kind of weather many people will notice right away: more sun, lower humidity and only a small chance of rain. The change should make the air feel a little more comfortable, even as afternoon temperatures stay in the mid to upper 80s.
That is why Wink News is drawing attention now. After a stretch of unsettled weather before Tuesday, the region is getting a brief break that should help outdoor plans across Central Florida, from inland neighborhoods to the coast. Most inland communities are expected to wake up in the mid to upper 60s Tuesday morning, while coastal areas stay closer to 70 degrees.
Tuesday should stay seasonable, with highs generally in the mid to upper 80s. Winds will begin shifting off the Atlantic, which will bring a little more moisture and some cloud cover back into the picture later in the day. Most areas should remain dry Tuesday, although a brief shower or sprinkle cannot be ruled out.
The comfortable stretch does not last long. Moisture is expected to gradually increase across Central Florida from Wednesday through Friday, and rain chances rise to 30-40% by Friday. The added humidity will make the air feel heavier again, and by Friday the heat index could approach 100 degrees in communities south of Orlando.
That return of moisture is the catch in this forecast. The dry air behind the front is giving Central Florida a short-lived break now, but the atmosphere turns more humid again before the end of the week, which means the best part of this front may be over almost as soon as it arrives.
A second cold front is expected to move into Central Florida on Saturday, but it will likely weaken as it approaches. Even so, it could set up another cooler turn by Sunday, when afternoon highs may be only in the low 80s. People in Central Florida should also keep an eye on the moderate risk of dangerous rip currents at Central Florida’s Atlantic beaches while the weather pattern keeps shifting.
