NBA 2K25 is set to disappear from digital stores on October 30, 2026, and its online servers will go dark on January 1, 2027. That gives players a narrow window to buy it before the game shifts from a live online product to one that can only be played in limited offline form.
The timing matters because NBA 2K25 launched in September 2024, meaning the game is being pulled after about two years on the market. Cade Onder reported the dates, and the schedule gives anyone still deciding whether to buy the game a hard deadline: purchase it before October 30, 2026, or miss it entirely once 2K removes it from sale.
For anyone who already owns it, the cutoff is different. Players who buy NBA 2K25 before the delisting date will still be able to download it and keep using offline modes after the store removal, but the game’s online life ends when the servers shut down at the start of 2027. After that, multiplayer games and online game modes will be unavailable, and it will no longer be possible to earn Virtual Currency.
That is where the split inside the game becomes sharp. 2K says Play Now, MyNBA, The W and MyWNBA will remain available after January 1, 2027, but MyCAREER will not. The mode depends on a connection to the servers for progression and Virtual Currency, so even though the game itself can still launch, one of its biggest long-term modes will stop working. MyTEAM is also set to disappear with the shutdown, along with any feature that needs a live link to 2K’s servers.
The broader pattern is familiar to players who have followed recent NBA releases. NBA 2K25 is the latest NBA game to be removed from digital stores, and earlier versions were delisted and taken offline in a way that also left All-Star Team-Up inaccessible. That history makes the 2027 shutdown less of a surprise than a deadline: once the servers go, the parts of the game built around them go with them.
What 2K has not explained is why a game launched in September 2024 is being retired so quickly. The company has set the dates, and those dates are enough to change how NBA 2K25 will be bought and played. After October 30, 2026, it will no longer be for sale. After January 1, 2027, it will no longer be a full online game.
