José Francisco Molina said Honduras will change its lineup and is still weighing Denil Maldonado’s availability before facing Martinica in the Concacaf Nations League. The coach wants fresh legs, not just routine swaps, after a run that has left little room to breathe.

That matters now because Honduras has already been through Kingston against Jamaica and is trying to manage four matches in a short span. Molina said the squad of 26 futbolistas needs recovery and rest, and he made clear the team has not settled on every starter for the next match.

“More than rotations, what we are looking for is to inject fresh legs into the team,” Molina said, underscoring that the changes are meant to keep the side sharp rather than simply alter names. He also said the players know there are no easy opponents in today’s game, and that the previous match in Jamaica has already been studied before Martinica arrives on the schedule.

The unresolved spot is the one around Maldonado. Molina said his participation is complicated because of discomfort in his right knee, and the final call will be made with the medical staff at the last moment. Honduras does not like to risk injured players, which leaves one defensive decision hanging until just before kickoff.

There is another layer to the assignment. Molina said Martinica has players competing in European leagues, mainly in France, and that the competition level there is high even in second divisions. Honduras also reached Martinica with some absences in the squad, which makes the effort to refresh the team less a luxury than a necessity. The next decision that matters is simple: whether Maldonado is cleared in time, or whether Honduras must solve that defensive gap without him.
