The Atlantic Coast Conference set Virginia’s 2027 conference slate on Wednesday, Sept. 16, giving the Cavaliers four home league games and five on the road before the full schedule is released. Virginia will host Louisville, SMU, Pitt and Virginia Tech at Scott Stadium in 2027 and play ACC road games at Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Stanford.
The announcement is the first clear look at how Virginia’s season will be shaped inside the Florida State Football Schedule conversation that fans often use as a shortcut for the broader ACC calendar. It also confirms Virginia will be one of the 16 ACC teams to play nine league games in 2027, part of a framework the conference said will closely follow the model used in 2026.
That structure matters because the ACC is trying to guarantee every program at least 10 games each year against ACC or other Power Four competition. In 2027, 16 ACC teams will play nine conference games and at least one Power Four non-conference opponent, while one ACC team will play eight league contests and at least two Power Four non-conference opponents. Virginia’s non-conference list already includes Arkansas State on Aug. 28 and William & Mary on Oct. 16, which fills in part of the picture around the league slate.
What is still missing is the part that turns opponents into a real season: dates. The ACC released the matchups, but not the full 2027 football schedule, so Virginia knows who it will play and where, but not yet the order of those games or the spacing that can shape a season’s difficulty. The conference said the complete schedule, including all game dates, will come later.
For Virginia, the result is a road map without a calendar. The opponents are set, the balance of home and away games is known, and the league framework is fixed. What remains is the date sheet that will show whether the Cavaliers get a manageable run through the ACC or a stretch that forces the season to be judged before it even begins.
