Adamari López used her Instagram stories to warn followers that fake videos made with artificial intelligence were circulating with her image and voice. She said the clips put words and actions in her mouth that never happened, including claims about police, federal immigration agents and a supposed domestic employee.
She said the videos were not real and that the woman described in them did not know her and had never worked in her home. López also said one version of her was shown calling the immigration agency to have people from her Hispanic community removed from the United States, something she said she would never do.
The reason her message landed now is simple: the clips were spreading far enough that she felt she had to answer them publicly. In one post she told followers that if they want to know what she thinks or has said, they should look at her official accounts, where she has always spoken for herself.
That is the friction in this case. López said the videos are false and that the scenes in them never happened in her home or by her hand, but the fact that she had to issue a direct rebuttal shows how quickly manipulated content can travel once it is wrapped in a familiar face and voice. She said the spread could create fear, confusion and misinformation within her community and could cause grand problems if people believe it.
She urged people not to share everything they see online without first checking where it came from, and thanked the people who know her, follow her and help stop the false information. In another Facebook video, she repeated that the claims were untrue and said the situation had gone much further than earlier incidents involving her image, which is why it had to be stopped.
Whether she will pursue any formal complaint is still unanswered. For now, López has chosen the faster tool available to her — her own account — to push back before the fake clips harden into something harder to undo. In a moment when AI can make a lie look lived-in, that public correction may be the only thing standing between a rumor and a belief.
