Saturday Night Live has added Saidah Belo-Osagie and Grace Reiter as featured players for Season 52, putting two new names into a cast that is about to return to NBC’s late-night stage. The hiring comes just before the show opens its new season on September 26, with Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks set to host and KATSEYE booked as the musical guest.
Belo-Osagie’s arrival is the one that will draw the closest attention. The Queens, NY-based performer created the event series Afrobeats Futura and the solo show Saidah Gets Closure, and she previously wrote and directed the short film Tinge. For a show that has spent years cycling through cast changes, that kind of self-made résumé fits a moment when the lineup is being refreshed rather than merely adjusted.
Reiter comes in with a different track record. She was one of the original members of the TikTok-based sketch show Stapleview, wrote and directed Netflix’s upcoming American High mockumentary Minimum Wage, and appeared in HBO’s The Chair Company with Tim Robinson. Originally from Chippewa Falls, WI, she gives the cast another performer with both digital and screen experience as Season 52 takes shape.
The hiring also lands against a backdrop that has been hard to ignore. The season before Belo-Osagie joined had no Black female cast members, and producers had reportedly been looking to correct that absence since Ego Nwodim’s surprise exit in the fall of 2025. That makes Belo-Osagie’s addition more than a simple new-credit announcement; it is part casting move, part response to a gap that had become increasingly visible.
The show is now moving into its new season with two featured players added and no public sign yet of whether more changes are coming before the premiere. What matters next is straightforward: whether Belo-Osagie and Reiter are the only new faces for Season 52 or the first step in a broader reset when the show returns at 11:30 p.m. ET on September 26.
